Promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment is not new in Kenya and Africa, there have been several initiatives put in place to steer the agenda. However, this women-initiative brings something different as it focuses on women economic empowerment and leadership.
Kenyan businesswomen are set to benefit immensely from the Commonwealth Business Women Network, Kenyan chapter which was launched on Tuesday as they will have easy access to a wider market offered by Commonwealth networks.
The launch of the Kenyan chapter brought together businesswomen from over 54 countries who are members of the Commonwealth.
The newly launched Kenyan chapter will support women entrepreneurs and help them grow their businesses, CBW-Kenya Director Josephine Ojiabo termed the network s a “commonwealth Advantage.” which she says will help them grow their businesses .
“As well as doing trade within and across borders, the network will give women a voice with policymakers to ensure that women entrepreneurship has a better environment and greater practices,” Ojiabo said. Continue reading…
